Earlier, Quentin Tarantino, in a surprise move, verbally attacked Paul Dano’s performance in There Will Be Blood.

“The flaw is Paul Dano,” the filmmaker told The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast. “The weakest f***** actor in SAG.” “Obviously, it’s supposed to be a two-hander, but it’s also drastically obvious that it’s not a two-hander. [Dano] is weak sauce, man. He is the weak sister.”

“I’m not saying [Dano’s] giving a terrible performance,” he continued. “I’m saying he’s giving a non-entity [performance]. I don’t care for him.”

Amid the criticism, Mattson Tomlin, who is said to be working with Paul on The Batman Part II, where he is expected to reprise his Riddler character, pens a post in the actor’s support.

“I am really pleased to see so many people cheer on Paul Dano this week,” says the co-writer of the Caped Crusader sequel. “Not only is he a terrific actor, but he’s an astonishing director who exudes control and tremendous empathy.”

Despite Quentin’s criticism, Paul’s portrayal of preacher Eli Sunday is considered one of his best performances.

Other hit credits of the star include Little Miss Sunshine, Meek’s Cutoff and The Fabelmans.
