Rocker Gavin Rossdale revealed how having a pet dog during his career launch positively impacted him.

In a recent chat with People, the 60-year-old musician opened up about the benefits of adopting dogs as he is launching a campaign named “12 Days of Dogmas,” where he will share details of shelter dogs available for adoption for 12 days.

“The importance of adopting to me is that you save an innocent life,” he told the outlet.

He went on to say, “And the best thing about rescuing a pet is that you think you’re doing them the favor, but actually, because life is bizarre and wild, it turns out that they do you the favor. They bring you into focus, and they bring out a patience in you, and a kindness and an empathy.”

Recalling how his fury companion helped him during his early career, Rossdale gushed, “My first dog, Winston, I’ve always credited him with that because I had to be responsible for him. I couldn’t go out for two days straight and be a crazy maniac in London. I had to come home and be responsible. I couldn’t go out too late, or trash the house, things like that.”

He further explained, “So through my desire to be with him more, I just stayed in more, began to work, had more focus. And that’s how I began Bush. So my debt is always to my first dog.”
