As the holiday season is just around the corner, Oliver Hudson revealed his famous family’s special role to light up the mood for the season.
In a recent chat with People, the 49-year-old actor opened up about the duties each individual in his family plays, during the promotion of his latest holiday rom-com, A Merry Little Ex-Mas.
“Mom of course gets the house incredible, garlands everywhere and smells amazing,” he began to share with his mom Goldie Hawn.
He went on to say, “And then we do ornaments. We bake cookies. We decorate the tree on Christmas Eve, and that’s usually myself and Wyatt [Russell] on a ladder, putting up the lights.”
Oliver’s sister, Kate Hudson, plays a special role in gathering the family together as one and for her duty called by the nickname “Miss Holiday Spirit.”
“She always has onesies or PJs that are made with those names on them or hats or this so she’s the cohesive one,” Oliver detailed.
“She brings all of us together through these gifts that are all unique, but yet all alike so we’re one unit. So everyone definitely has their part,” he added.
And Oliver expressed his gratitude to Kurt Russell, whom he calls “Pa”, for introducing his family to many of their Christmas traditions.
“It is a tradition that was created by Kurt when he came into our lives. Because with his family — who now of course is my family as well, but on his side of things — it was a huge tradition and he brought that to us.”
He further added that his first Christmas he celebrated with his mom’s longtime partner, Oliver recalled, “Our first Christmas I ever had with him was in Colorado, and he had this little cabin that he lived in, and we were there, this is before we got the ranch, and it backed up into this hill. And we woke up in the morning and he goes, ‘Look, you guys.’ ”
